Patient Safety APPG Meeting – 10th March 2009:
The first meeting of the year addressed the themes proposed for the forthcoming meetings and offered attendees the opportunity to discuss the issues with Stephen Thornton, Chief Executive, the Health Foundation, Dr Peter Cavanagh, Consultant Radiologist, Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust and Lesley Bentley, Chair Patient Liaison Group, Royal College of Surgeons.

Patient Safety APPG Meeting – 10th June 2008:
The focus of this meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Patient Safety was to discuss what advances are being made in ensuring that the risks of surgery are being minimised for patients. There have been many innovative developments in the world of surgery in recent years, which have brought huge advances to modern surgical techniques, and are now less invasive such as laser eye surgery and key-hole surgery. However, surgery still poses significant risks to patients – from the possibility of infection, damage to other organs and wrong-sided procedures.

Patient Safety APPG Meeting – 18th March 2008:
The focus of this meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Patient Safety was to discuss the Government plans to streamline the three bodies that monitor hospital, care homes and mental health services into a single regulator known as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) by April 2009.
